A Little Background Information

Although I have lived on both coasts, I have called
Southern Colorado my home since 1986. I graduated from
the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs with a
Bachelors Degree in Anthropology.  Although being a Birth
Doula is my true calling, I learned a lot about how the
world births their babies during my studies in college.  I am
in a constant state of learning within the birthing field.
Whether it be through reading every book I can get my
hands on, studying the Cochrane Library’s collection of
studies, taking/sponsoring workshops or attending
conferences and seminars-continually keeping myself up-to-
date on the best most recent research and birthing methods
is a key part of my work as a doula- outside of the labor
room.

Of course, my husband and three children are the light of
my life.  My personal birth history consists of a fetal
demise at 24 weeks, a cesarean birth at term after extended
labor, a homebirth VBAC with no complications and an
induced hospital VBAC respectively.

In addition to my exceptional doula services, I also offer
evidence-based, private, and completely customizable
Childbirth Education classes. I generally offer childbirth
education to my doula clients only, however some
exceptions can be made.

In addition to being a Certified Doula through DONA
(
Doulas of North America International), I am also a
Certified Childbirth Educator through CAPPA (
Childbirth
and Postpartum Professional Association). I am a member
of Colorado Birth Resources, The Pikes Peak Regional
Doula Association, birthNetwork, CAPPA, DONA and
ICAN-International Cesarean Awareness Network.
Welcome to Aspen Leaf Birth
Services, my name is Brandy Segin
CD(DONA), CCCE Certified Birth
Doula and Childbirth Educator
offering Doula Care and Childbirth
Education in Colorado Springs, and
the south Denver Metro area
including Castle Rock and Parker.

I have often been asked, ‘Why did
you become a doula?’. My response
is simple. I have been a doula my entire adult life.  I have had a
life-long interest in pregnancy and birth and a passion for
supporting women and their partners through the birth process
into parenthood. In fact, I didn’t really become a doula, it’s in
my blood.  I am by nature a doula: I nurture, I support, I listen,
I understand.  I supported family members as well as numerous
friends through their pregnancies and births long before I had
ever heard of a doula or began my official study to become a
Certified Birth Doula in 2003.  I have supported women and
families through many different kinds of birth experiences
including natural unmedicated births, cesarean sections,
medicated births, vaginal birth of twins, inductions and VBACs.

I am passionate about the value and importance of the birth
experience which forever changes a woman-creating a mother,
a family and memories that last a lifetime.  I feel privileged to be
allowed to serve women and their families during this most
important time.
